Suelen da Rocha Gomes holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Campinas, Brazil (2011) and worked in the paint industry, developing and improving automotive and wood coatings. In 2015, she started her Master’s degree at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. She carried out her research in the field of electrochemistry and corrosion focusing on the development of smart coatings with self-healing ability to mitigate the corrosion process in carbon steel. After defending her MSc thesis, she continued to collaborate in the research group of her supervisor, Prof. Idalina Vieira Aoki, working on some projects financed by industry partners. We highlight the collaboration in a Petrobras project in which smart coatings with self-repair properties were developed for the external painting of a pipeline and/or storage tank. Suelen joined to SMARTINCS to design a multifunctional non-shrinkage cementitious grouts with enhanced performance that can be applied in a wider variety of conditions with higher effectiveness, will be able to bridge cracks quicker and will be even more user friendly.
