Shan He obtained a Bachelor degree in Engineering in 2015 from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China, and a Master degree in Engineering in 2017 from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. As an enthusiast of snowboarding and ice-skating, he also spent one year of his Bachelor in Canada as an exchange student, studying at Carleton University in Ottawa. He majored in civil engineering throughout his educational career. After graduation, he worked as a researcher until 2019, focusing on the development and characterization of self-healing fiber-reinforced cementitious composites. He has participated in several pilot projects concerning the design and application of advanced cementitious materials and has actively collaborated with companies and other research institutes. Within SMARTINCS, he will develop a method to apply self-healing technologies only in the concrete cover-zone, the actual zone which controls the durability of reinforced concrete structures. The overall goal is to reduce the life cycle cost of existing and new concrete structures operating under severe conditions.
