UPV is currently considered one of the leading universities in Spain, being the single Science and Technology University in Spain to feature in all worlds’ university rankings. Founded in 1971, it comprises nearly 30,000 students, over 2,500 academics and researchers, and 18 university research centres of excellence driven to solve the challenges of the European citizens. In this regard, the lines of research of the UPV´s Concrete Science and Technology Institute (ICITECH) coincide with some of the main SMARTINCS aims, in especial Development of new concretes, self-healing concretes, testing methodologies, durability and structural design.

Within the own laboratory we have the following: mortar/ concrete production facilities, sample conditioning, humidity and temperature controlled chambers for aging of concrete, mechanical test machine for compression, bending and bond of concrete samples, large concrete mechanical performance elements, electrochemical test equipment’s for rebar corrosion, durability test (water permeability, gas permeability, ion transport), early age and long term shrinkage, grinding machine, pH testing method for concrete.
