KIT has outstanding experience in experimental testing of concrete and concrete structures subjected to fatigue and impact loading as well as the corresponding modelling. Therefore, KIT will extensively contribute to the project both experimentally and by modelling on a meso, particularly, on a macro/structural level by using a unique test-set up which enables the consortium to bridge the micro and macro level.

KIT has developed a unique large-scale test rig for experimentally investigating the leakage and permeability behaviour against gases, water vapour and fluids as well as the self-healing potential of cracks in concrete under sustained mechanical loading. Small-scale test rigs for investigating the self-healing and permeability are also available. This unique equipment is accompanied by an extensive lab infrastructure for mineralogical, physical and chemical testing.
